Commander Quits Post

Gundagai-owned Voice Commander, winner of the 2010-11 Country horse of the year, has been retired. The eight-year-old won 12 races and more than $720,000 prizemoney. Trained by Nick Olive in Canberra, Voice Commander, which didn't race as a two-year-old because of injury, came of age as an older horse, listing among his wins the Goulburn Cup, Festival Stakes at Rosehill, Weetwood Handicap at Toowoomba, Frank Underwood Cup at Rosehill and Gundagai, Queanbeyan and Wagga cups in succession. "He always gave his all,"Olive said. "He will ge greatly missed around the stables."
