Epaullo Creed claims Adaminaby Cup

The Adaminaby Races feature race, the 1400 metres Snowy Hydro Adaminaby Cup, ended up being a family affair with the winning horse, Epaullo Creed, back for a second attempt at claiming the cup and succeeding this time.

The eight-year-old black gelding, ridden by jockey, Ryan Bradley, is part-owned by Ryan’s Dad, Brendan Bradley (who attended the race meet) along with a number of other part-owners in the syndicate including Ryan’s brother and uncle, all of Queanbeyan.

“The cup was a really good race, very enjoyable well worth the trip up,” one of the part-owners, Pete Svager, also of Queanbeyan, said after the cup presentation.

“I missed last year’s race, so it was good to see us get the cup today. This is my first year here and it’s an enjoyable event.”

Mr Bradley was thrilled his son rode the winning horse.

“We’ve had Epaullo Creed since a yearling, I actually named him,” he said.

“He has been in good form and raced in some good races lately. Hopefully he pulls up ok and we might go in the Queanbeyan Cup on Friday.

“He’s been a little battler for us,” Mr Bradley said.

Ryan, who originally is from Queanbeyan, but is now based with Kerry Parker Racing at Kembla Grange, said his mount was a class above the horses he raced against.

“He’s a pretty sharp horse, but he wasn’t the greatest fan of the track and he was wanting to stop underneath me. He’s too smart for his own good...once we got in to a bit of a dog fight later he showed how tough he is.

“Although he didn’t handle the track he still gave me 110 per cent.

“It took me till the 800 to stop him, he still wanted to go,” Ryan said. Hopefully we can make it two in a week and go and win the Queanbeyan Cup.

“It was a bit of a hike to get here, but I’d travel anywhere for that horse.”
